Have you ever sat in a saddle on the back of a horse?

Once upon a fleeting time, on September 29, 1907 a baby boy was born. His name
was Gene Autry and he grew up to become a famous, American cowboy.

Mr. Autry was a musician, singer, rodeo performer, actor and businessman. He
owned television and radio stations and the Los Angeles Angels baseball team!

His singing cowboy films helped make Country Music popular. He wrote more
than 300 songs! His biggest hits were “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”, “Frosty
the Snowman” and “Here Comes Santa Claus”.
Do you know those songs?

His signature song was called “Back in the Saddle Again.”
It was written by his friend, Ray Whitley. It is also the title of his autobiography.

“I’m back in the saddle again.
Out where a friend is a friend.
Where the longhorn cattle feed
On the lowly jimson weed.
I’m back in the saddle again.

Ridin’ the range once more,
Totin’ my old .44.
Where you sleep out every night
And the only law is right
Back in the saddle again.

Whoopi-ty-aye-oh,
Rockin’ to and fro.
Back in the saddle again.

Whoopi-ty-aye-yay,
I go my way.
Back in the saddle again.

I’m back in the saddle again.
Out where a friend is a friend.
Where the longhorn cattle feed
On the lowly jimson weed.
I’m back in the saddle again.

Ridin’ the range once more,
Totin’ my old .44.
Where you sleep out every night
And the only law is right.
Back in the saddle again.

Whoopi-ty-aye-oh,
Rockin’ to and fro.
Back in the saddle again.

Whoopi-ty-aye-yay,
I go my way.
Back in the saddle again.
